Incinerator Passes First Inspection

By Alabama Public Radio

Anniston, AL – The chemical weapons incinerator in Anniston has passed its initial inspection. Spokesperson Mike Abrams says it's the first time a chemical weapons incinerator has done that on the first try. Inspectors spoke with operators, the management team and the support staff. Abrams says investigators only found a few clerical errors, and those were corrected almost immediately. The next test will come next month. Operators will conduct a trial burn to demonstrate the incinerator's ability to destroy chemical weapons without endangering workers, the environment and the general public.
