Montgomery, AL – Elmore County school officials say their school system is racially unified. They have filed a federal court motion to end a decades-old school desegregation case there. If a judge agrees Elmore County schools do meet legal requirements, the courts could remove any need for further judicial supervision over the school board. Superintendent Bruce Fulmer says the school system has done everything the court has asked. A public hearing is scheduled for October 31st at the federal courthouse in Montgomery. The original desegregation case dates to 1970.
