Montgomery, AL – An Alabama National Guard soldier from Tuskegee was killed in Iraq Monday. Thirty-two year old Sergeant Aubrey Bell died in a car bomb attack on a Baghdad police station. The Army says Bell was training Iraqi police officers and performing security patrols in Baghdad. Bell was assigned to the 214th Military Police Company based in Alexander City. Five other soldiers with the 214th suffered wounds in the attack. About 150 members of the company have been in Iraq since May. Bell spent 14 years in the Army National Guard and worked at Russell Corporation in Montgomery. He's reported to be the first Alabama National Guardsman to die from hostile fire in postwar Iraq.
