More Alabama Reserves Activiated

Sheffied, AL – As many as four more Alabama National Guard units may be heading to active duty in Iraq.
More than 580 soldiers with the 115th Signal Battalion are affected. The 115th has units in Florence, Russellville, Haleyville, Sheffield and Moulton. The 1303 Engineer Detachment from New Brockton and Wetumpka has also been mobilized. Guard spokesperson, Sergeant Martin Dyson, says two other units, the 231st Military Police Battalion in Prattvile and the 711th Signal Battalion with units in southwest Alabama could also be mobilized.
About 2100 Alabama reserves are currently serving active duty in the Middle East and in homeland defense efforts.
