Severe Weather Expected Today

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – Alabama's secondary severe weather season is underway ... proof of that will likely arrive beginning late this morning.
A system spawned in Texas is expected to bring strong thunderstorms to the state today and tonight. The storms will have the potential to produce damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes. Weather forecasters recommend "storm proofing" your yard and house by picking up loose outdoor items, protecting pets and checking generators. They also urge residents to stay tuned to local media stations today in case severe weather warnings are issued.
Much of the state is under a tornado watch until noon today. One tornado warning was issued, and expired in southwest Alabama this morning. Parts of North Alabama are under a flood watch.
