Auburn Faculty Senate Votes 'No Confidence' in Walker

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – The Auburn University Faculty Senate met with school president William Walker yesterday and delivered a vote of "no confidence" against him.
The measure passed 37-31. However, the Faculty Senate also voted 42-to-27 against a resolution calling for Walker's resignation. Five senators abstained from voting. The votes followed a lengthy meeting with Walker who was asked numerous questions about the school's recently announced probation, as well as his secret trip to Kentucky to consider hiring a new football coach.
Walker says he plans on completing his three year term as president, which would end in June of 2005. However, a University spokesperson says Walker has asked Auburn's Board of Trustees to begin the search for a new president as soon as possible.
