AG Wants Charges Against Millican Dismissed

By Alabama Public Radio

Hamilton, AL – Attorney General Bill Pryor's office has asked that extortion charges against state Representative Mike Millican be dismissed.
Millican was charged along with state Senator Roger Bedford with using state money to influence the Marion County Commission to buy property from one of Bedford's friends. Circuit Judge Jerry White recently threw out the case against Bedford for lack of evidence, and is also scheduled to hear the case against Millican.
Pryor says that a grand jury initially found enough evidence to formally charge Millican, but Judge White's rulings in the Bedford case gives his office little hope of convicting Millican. That because prosecutors would be relying on much of the same evidence used against Bedford.
