Motorists Will Get Upgraded Licenses

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama drivers will be getting new licenses next year that will be harder to reproduce or falsify.
The licenses will have a distinct new look, especially for drivers under the age of 21, and will feature a variety of security features. Public safety officials say the driver's license has become an important document in the fight against terrorism and identity theft ... noting how vital the licenses are when opening bank accounts or using credit cards.
Oregon-based Digimarc will make the 1-point-2 million licenses Alabama issues each year. The company will be paid a one-dollar-58 cents per license.
