Tuscaloosa Reconsiders Sunday Alcohol Sales

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – The issue of Sunday alcohol sales has resurfaced in Tuscaloosa. The city council has requested Tuscaloosa County's legislative delegation to call for a referendum to allow such sales within Tuscaloosa's city limits. Alcohol sales currently are not allowed inside city limits on Sundays. Council Member Joe Powell does not support the effort, saying there's no real economic reason for the change. Council member Lee Garrison has pushed for a vote on Sunday alcohol sales. He says Tuscaloosa's residents should be able to determine the issue for themselves. The state legislature will convene its session Tuesday.
