Montgomery, AL – Governor Riley is working to convince lawmakers to convene the regular session and begin a special session to consider his government accountability package.
Such a move would need approval from both the House and the Senate, and Riley says he needs just a few more votes to make that happen. If Riley is successful in his push for a special session, he would be able to control the Legislature's work agenda ... a privilege he does not have during the regular session.
The legislature's ranking Democrats say the vote will be close. Some say the move is not needed because the Governor's legislation can be considered during the regular session.
