State Marks Severe Weather Awareness Week

Florence, AL – State emergency management officials this week will continue to explore ways to better inform Alabamians of dangerous weather. It's Severe Weather Awareness Week in the state. The Florence-Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency reports Alabama is among the nation's most active states for severe weather. There were 317 tornado warnings last year. There were also 959 severe thunderstorm warnings and 112 flash flood warnings. Alabama is entering its primary spring tornado season. A statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Wednesday.
