King Named New State AG

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's new attorney general wasted little time in announcing he would formally seek election to the office in 2006.
Yesterday, Governor Bob Riley appointed 35-year old Troy King to the post. King is Riley's former legal adviser, and has spent plenty of time in the political arena. In 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state. In 1990, he worked in Spencer Bachus' unsuccessful campaign for attorney general. From 1995 to 1999, King worked in former Governor Fob James' legal office and served as deputy executive secretary. He also worked in the attorney general's office from 1999 until he joined Riley's staff in January 2003 as legal adviser.
King will make 163-thousand dollars a year as the state's new attorney general.
