Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Ethics Commission has found probable cause that former state Senator George Callahan violated the state ethics law.
The commission voted unanimously yesterday to send the case to the attorney general's office. The complaint accuses Callahan of using his position as a senator to get money for the Alabama Pecan-Satsuma Festival at Tillman's Corner. The ethics complaint says the festival then used an advertising company run by Callahan's son to help publicize the event.
Callahan says he is disappointed with the commission's ruling, and thinks the complaint was filed for political reasons.
