Lawmakers Expect Special Session

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – There's about a month-and-a-half left in this year's regular legislative session. Some lawmakers say they expect to be back when it's over. They believe Governor Bob Riley will call a special session. If that happened, it likely would focus on Riley's reform bills. Many of his proposals have been killed or delayed in House and Senate committees. Riley said late last week he hopes his reform bills will be addressed in the regular session and he has no immediate plans to call a special session. Legislators would be forced to return for a special session if lawmakers do not pass operating budgets.
