Health Officials Investigate Tuberculosis

Bayou La Batre, AL – Members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are visiting Mobile County. They will evaluate why the southern part of the county has a relatively high number of tuberculosis cases. Doctor Bert Eichold, chief health officer of the Mobile County Health Department, says the state Department of Public Health requested the visit. There have been several T-B cases in Bayou La Batre. The investigation started with a local man who was diagnosed with an infectious case of T-B. The case now involves a second workplace and 43 more people.
