Montgomery, AL – The cattlemen who sued Tyson Fresh Meats say they just want fair payment from the company. They say they will challenge a judge's decision to throw out a recent jury verdict against Tyson. In February, a jury found Tyson was using contracts with certain ranchers to depress cattle prices. Jurors determined the system cost the industry more than one billion dollars over an eight year period. But Senior U-S District Judge Lyle Strom threw out the verdict, saying there wasn't enough evidence to support that decision. Tyson is the nation's largest beef packer and says the contracts it used are legal.
