Voters May Stay Away from Primaries

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Turnout is not expected to be high in Tuesday's primary election. Voters will have to decide whether to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary. There are two-point-four million registered voters in the state, but political experts say the races are generating little public interest. Secretary of State Nancy Worley says she expects a low turnout because there are so many uncontested races. But she says it election will cost the same regardless of how many people participate. The state will spend about three million dollars on tomorrow's primaries.
