Incumbent Justice Loses to Former Moore Aide

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Incumbent state Supreme Court Justice Jean Brown was defeated in Tuesday night's Republican primary. She lost the race for Supreme Court Place one to Tom Parker. Parker was an aide to former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and had his endorsement. The results are still unofficial, but Parker edged Brown on a 51 percent to 49 percent vote. Parker and his supporters knelt in prayer after learning of his victory. Brown did not offer a public statement Tuesday night, but her campaign manager released a written statement that seemed to concede the race to Parker. He was the only Supreme Court candidate with Moore's support to win a primary outright.
