Bobo Attorneys Ask For Dismissal

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – Attorneys for Tuscaloosa physician Phillip Bobo have asked a federal judge to dismiss charges against their client involving Medicaid Fraud. Bobo was convicted by a federal jury in 2001 on similar charges that involved many of the same circumstances detailed in last month's indictment. That verdict was overturned on appeal. Bobo was indicted in May along with former Governor Don Siegelman and his chief of staff, Paul Hamrick. They're accused of conspiring to ensure that Bobo's business would get several state Medicaid contracts that brought in more than 100 million dollars a year. The three defendants have pleaded not guilty. A trial is scheduled for August second.
