State BOE Will Vote On Superintendent Next Month

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The state school board will vote next month on whether to keep the interim school superintendent or conduct a national search for a permanent replacement. A national search could cost up to 100 thousand dollars...so several board members said Thursday they'd prefer to keep interim Superintendent Joe Morton. Even if a national search takes place, Morton could theoretically apply for and get the job. Board members also reviewed a list of qualifications for the state's top education officer. They plan to vote on the matter at a July 13th meeting.
