Auburn Company Saves Jobs

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – A Lee County company says more than 100 jobs that appeared to be lost will, in fact, be saved. The Robert Bosch Tool Corporation moved a large portion of its business to China two years ago and recently announced that it would close its remaining operation in Auburn, costing 110 local jobs. But managers at the plant decided to purchase the portion that would be closing and start their own company. With the formation of Auburn Investment Castings, the company will be able to stay in Auburn, retain the 110 jobs and receive more than 48-thousand-dollars in taxes and licenses to the city and about three-point-three million-dollars in payroll. The Auburn City Council agreed last night to help A-I-C by purchasing the Robert Bosch property in Auburn Industrial Park and leasing it to the recently formed company.
