Atlanta, GA – The state of Alabama and Exxon Mobil have not yet reached a settlement in their three-point-six billion dollar legal dispute, but attorneys say they do plan to keep talking. Representatives of both sides met Tuesday in Atlanta with a mediator to continue discussions they started in late July. Attorneys say they plan another meeting, but a date hasn't been set. The Alabama Supreme Court ordered the two sides to try mediation after Exxon Mobil appealed a three-point-six billion dollar verdict that the state won against the oil company. A Montgomery County Circuit Court jury agreed with the state's arguments that the oil company intentionally underpaid royalties from natural gas wells drilled in state-owned waters along the Alabama coast.
