Birmingham, AL – HealthSouth has a new chief financial officer. John Workman most recently was C-E-O of U-S Can Company. He also was the company's C-F-O for six years. He replaces Guy Sanson, who was hired to guide HealthSouth through 18 months of restructuring. The company was able to avoid bankruptcy after the government accused it and former chief executive Richard Scrushy of overstating earnings by at least two-point-seven billion dollars. HealthSouth is based in Birmingham and is the country's largest provider of outpatient surgery and rehabilitation services.
