Auburn, AL – A new poll shows that more than two-thirds of Alabamians do support public displays of the 10 Commandments. But the poll also says that the same number of people believe the issue championed by former Chief Justice Roy Moore has received too much attention. Pollster Jim Seroka says the findings prove that Alabama voters value their religious beliefs but don't want them to become part of the agenda of political leaders. 54 percent of poll respondents said they strongly support 10 Commandments displays, while another 15 percent said they mildly support such displays. 19 percent were opposed. Meanwhile...58 percent of those surveyed said the issue has received too much attention, while 30 percent thought the opposite--that it had received too little attention. Auburn University's Center for Governmental Services conducted the poll of more than 600 voting-age Alabama residents by telephone in June.
