Riley Says Cleanup Will Be Expensive

By Alabama Public Radio

Clanton, AL – Governor Bob Riley is hoping to convince some skeptical Alabamians that if the federal government doesn't offer storm assistance, the state will. Monday's briefing from Clanton came after a weekend when some rural storm victims complained about being overlooked. He says generators have been supplied to all rural areas where Hurricane Ivan disrupted water systems. He says if any water systems needs a generator and doesn't have one, the local E-M-A office will provide one. Riley says recovery efforts will cost a lot of money, and he offered no speculation on where that money would come from.
