Former AU President Now Teaching, Still Bringing In Old Salary

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – Former Auburn University President William Walker has his old teaching job back...in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering...but his presidential salary of 270-thousand dollars a year is still unchanged. Auburn spokesman David Granger says Walker will continue to collect his presidential salary through June 2005. Granger says that was the decision of interim President Ed Richardson. Reports say other mechanical engineering professors make about 83 thousand dollars. Walker teaches one class twice a week...and his salary makes him Auburn's highest paid employee and one of only four who make more than 200-thousand dollars a year. Walker resigned the presidency earlier this year amid controversy over a football coaching search and academic probation issues.
