Judge Will Stay on Siegelman Case

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – The 11th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals did not remove Judge U-W Clemon from the criminal case against former Governor Don Siegelman. Yesterday's decision means the trial will begin Monday as planned. U-S Attorney Alice Martin wanted Clemon to step down, saying he is biased against the prosecution. But in a written release, Martin said today she appreciates the appeals court's review and is now ready to present her case. Siegelman also says he's ready for the trial to begin, saying he wants Alabamians to know the truth. Jury selection will begin Monday in Tuscaloosa.
