Vestavia Hills, AL – Sixth-grade students at Cahaba Heights Community School now have laptop computers. About 40 students took the laptops home Thursday and will continue to carry them as part of a pilot program to see whether such tools will help students learn. Cahaba Heights Principal Mark Kirkemier told students to be responsible with the laptops. He calls them really expensive textbooks. The school system worked out a deal with Apple, Incorporated, as part of a program called Apple One to One Learning. The school will pay about 127 thousand dollars over the next three years to lease the 75 i-Books.
