Montgomery, AL – Students across Alabama picked President Bush in a mock presidential election Thursday. 64 percent of the 150 thousand participating students voted for Bush, while about 36 percent of the young voters favored Democratic candidate John Kerry. And less than one percent of the students voted for candidates Michael Peroutka, Michael Badnarik and Ralph Nader. Alabama students also chose George W. Bush in 2000. The event was sponsored by the Alabama State PTA, the secretary of state's office and American Village. Linda Long is the spokesperson for American Village. She says the mock election involved about 250 public and private schools in 48 counties.
