Montgomery, AL – Members of the state Democratic Executive Committee received a statement Wednesday that was signed by 16 of the 19 members of the party's Senate caucus. They want Redding Pitt replaced as the state Democratic Party chairman. The move comes after the Republican Party swept every statewide race in the November 2 election. Earlier this week, the executive committee of the Democratic Party's black wing, the Alabama Democratic Conference, unanimously passed a resolution urging him to stay. ADC Chairman Joe Reed says Pitt should not shoulder the blame for the elections.
