Auburn, AL – Governor Riley is getting personally involved to try and get Auburn University off academic probation. Riley serves as chairman of the Auburn board. He'll be in Atlanta Friday to meet with officials of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to discuss Auburn's situation. SACS placed Auburn on probation last December. The accrediting agency will decide in December whether to extend probation, lift it or pull Auburn's accreditation. A recent report from a special committee of SACS said the organization is concerned about the relationship between Auburn trustees Bobby Lowder and Jack Miller. But the Governor says he thinks Auburn can get off probation, even if Lowder remains a trustee.
