Mobile, AL – A World War Two ship that gained international attention more than four years ago will be leaving Mobile permanently. The L-S-T-325 made news in 2000 when a group of World War Two veterans sailed it across the Atlantic Ocean to Mobile. It has been based there ever since, leaving occasionally for promotional tours. But now, the L-S-T-325 will permanently relocate to Indiana. The ship will be docked along the Ohio River in Evansville, near an area where hundreds of similar ships were built. 167 L-S-Ts were made in an Evansville shipyard during World War Two. The ship was designed to carry troops, vehicles and other equipment directly to shore.
