Young Found Guilty of Paying Coach

By Alabama Public Radio

Memphis, TN – A federal jury convicted a Memphis businessman Wedneday for paying $150,000 to get a top football recruit to the University of Alabama. Logan Young was charged with giving money to defensive lineman Albert Means' former high school coach Lynn Lang in 2000. Young could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison. The 64-year-old is free without bond while he awaits sentencing. Alabama's recruitment of Means became part of an NCAA investigation that led to sanctions in 2002. Those sanctions deprived the Crimson Tide of scholarships and bowl eligibility. Means was never implicated in any wrongdoing. He did testify in Young's trial that he let Lang choose his college. Means did enroll at Alabama but later transferred to the University of Memphis.
