AU's Provost is Being Reviewed

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – There is something occurring at Auburn University, but to outside observers, it's not yet clear what it means. Interim president Ed Richardson says he's considering the future of the school's second in command -- Provost Thomas Hanley. Hanley says he and Richardson are discussing his future with the school. But it's not clear just yet whether Richardson may fire or reassign Hanley, or whether Hanley wants to resign or change jobs. Hanley was hired in 2003 by former president William Walker, who was forced to resign last year. Hanley oversees Auburn's academic programs has been at the forefront of an effort to review all university programs. He was expected to present the results to Auburn trustees later this year.
