Open Meetings Bill Passes Senate Committee

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The Senate Governmental Affairs Committee has passed a proposal that would revise the state's open meetings law. The bill would define which meetings must be open and how much public notice must be given before those meetings. The committee approved it on a voice vote without opposition, and the bill now goes to the Senate. Its sponsor, Senator Zeb Little, says he's encouraged by the support. The committee did make at least one change. It would allow people to record public meetings without requesting permission.
