President Re-nominates Pryor to Appeals Court

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington, AL – Former Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor has been re-nominated to the 11th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals. Pryor currently sits on the appeals court, but his position is only temporary because he has not received approval from the U-S Senate. President Bush re-nominated Pryor with the hopes of making Pryor's presence permanent. U-S Senator Jeff Sessions has strongly supported Pryor and his nomination. In a written statement released Monday afternoon, Sessions said he is pleased -- but not surprised -- by Pryor's renomination. Sessions says he hopes the senators who initially opposed Pryor's nomination will reevaluate their position and consider his record on the 11th Circuit.
