Tuskegee, AL – The chair of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission spoke at Tuskegee University over the weekend. Gerald Reynolds told students that the government cannot do it all when it comes to fighting crime. Reynolds says parents, neighbors and community leaders need to encourage young people to succeed in school, and he says those groups need to steer children away from crime and get them on the right track as early as possible. Reynolds also says there are especially too many black men who are killing each other. President Bush picked Reynolds in December to chair the civil rights commission that is a federal fact-finding agency.
