Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby says he will be the next chair of the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Committee. Shelby says the position will give him an opportunity to immerse himself in issues concerning Alabama as well as the nation. The subcommittee's jurisdiction includes NASA, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Tuscaloosa Republican says he will continue to serve on five other subcommittees.
