Federal Grand Jury Resumes Work

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – It has been nine months since a federal grand jury took a break from investigating government corruption. But it is now back to work and meeting in Montgomery. The work stopped when former lobbyist and landfill developer Lanny Young stopped talking. He was cooperating as a witness last August but refused further comment when he was indicted on a separate corruption case. He pleaded guilty to one charge in that case and agreed to resume his cooperation with the grand jury. Federal and state authorities are investigating former Governor Don Siegelman's administration. That investigation has resulted in guilty pleas from three people.
