Albertville Voters Say "No" to Tax Plan

By Alabama Public Radio

Albertville, AL – Albertville voters have rejected a plan to raise the city's property taxes by six mills to refurbish the local high school. Unofficial returns from Tuesday's election say more than 14 hundred people voted against the tax hike...while just more than 13 hundred voted for it. Superintendent Robert Sparkman says there aren't many other options to cover the $19.3 million cost of fixing up the high school.
