State Health Insurance Stable...For Now

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's public school employees won't be paying any more for their health insurance this fall. The Public Education Employees Health Insurance Board Tuesday rejected a staff recommendation to raise the cost of coverage. Teacher lobbyist Paul Hubbert also chairs that board. Hubbert says more information is needed before any rates are increased. Governor Riley's spokesperson says cost controls are needed because the amount required for health insurance for public employees has been skyrocketing.
