Almost Half of State's Employment Offices to Close

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – 25 employment offices across Alabama will close. The offices provide free employment and training services for job seekers and employers. Workforce development officials announced Thursday that the reorganization of career centers was necessary because of a long-term decrease in funding. 32 offices will remain open in the state. Tim Alford is the Director of the Office of Workforce Development. Alford says all Alabamians will still have services in their home county or in a neighboring county. Areas affected by the closures will still be offered alternative services, such as mobile career centers.
