Calera, AL – Calera Police Chief Jim Finn has resigned. He has decided to spend the next year in Iraq training police officers. Finn has been Calera's police chief since 1998. He says he'll work for a private company that has a contract to train Iraqi police officers. Finn worked for the same company in 1997 when he spent a year in Bosnia helping the United Nations monitor reconstruction efforts in that country. Finn says money was not a priority in his decision, but he will earn 123-thousand dollars for his expertise. He earned 57 thousand dollars as police chief. Finn will receive training in Virginia and Texas before he leaves for Iraq.
