Tuscaloosa AL – Alabama Public Radio's news department has been honored with three awards by the Associated Press of Alabama. APR won "Best Coverage of a Planned Event" for its coverage of the 2006 Election. Pam Doyle earned "Best Investigative Reporting" for her series "Obesity in Alabama". Former reporter Gina Smith was awarded "Best Soft-News Feature Story" for her report "Agriculture Tour of Cuba". APR was also honored with four Regional Edgar R. Murrow awards ... Best Overall, Best Investigative Reporting, Best Continuing Coverage, and Best Newscast.
