RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — About $30,000 worth of donations and supplies are headed to Oklahoma to help tornado victims. WAAY-TV reports that a group of Franklin County, Ala., residents decided to do something to help just hours after seeing tornadoes destroy parts of Oklahoma on Monday. Many people in Franklin County witnessed the destructive power of tornadoes first hand during the April 27, 2011 outbreak that hit Alabama. Community members in Franklin County took donations Tuesday through Saturday. Organizers say people from across the Tennessee Valley contributed to the effort. The donations are expected to be sent to the Oklahoma community of Moore, where neighborhoods were flattened by a massive tornado.
