TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama quarterback Phillip Ely is transferring to Toledo. Ely told al.com on Wednesday that he visited Toledo's campus last week and will attend classes this summer. He says he also looked at Illinois, South Florida and Vanderbilt. Toledo spokesman Paul Helgren says nothing has been made official. Ely post on his Twitter page: "Ready to make a change in my life for the better and I thank everyone who has supported me through this process. Go Rockets!" Ely played in six games as a backup behind starter AJ McCarron and Blake Sims as a redshirt freshman. He completed 3 of 4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. The Crimson Tide had six scholarship quarterbacks practicing in the spring, including freshman signee Cooper Bateman.
