Heavy rains flooded roads and highways in parts of Alabama, and one county was under a flash flood warning.

The National Weather Service early Wednesday issued a flash flood warning for Cullman County, where an emergency manager reported more than a foot of water covering Highway 69 in front of a truck stop. Forecasters said heavy thunderstorms were expected to produce even more rain in the area.

Forecasters said locations that will experience flooding include Cullman, Hanceville, Good Hope, Garden City, South Vinemont, Colony, and West Point. The flash flood warning was scheduled to be in effect until 9:15 a.m. CDT Wednesday.

Flooding was also reported in southern Alabama. Reports to the weather service indicate that in downtown Troy, Elm Street was barricaded and impassable early Wednesday due to high water.
