Cold easing up a little in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Temperatures dropped to 15 degrees in Birmingham before dawn Wednesday but were expected to climb above freezing later in the day. The slow warm-up expected across Alabama on Wednesday comes after two days of below-freezing temperatures in the state. Lows early Wednesday morning ranged from 12 degrees in Gadsden to 20 degrees in Mobile. The National Weather Service called for a high of 42 degrees in Birmingham on Wednesday as part of a warming trend that includes a projected high of 62 degrees in Birmingham on Saturday.
