An Alabama town shut down amid a political dispute is trying to move forward.
The sheriff unlocked town hall in the Cullman County city of Colony so four council members could take their oaths of office on Monday.
The Cullman Times (http://bit.ly/RA0NDo ) reports the council agreed on an operating framework for the city as the search for a new mayor continues.
The old council's inability to select a mayor for the town of about 270 people led to a shutdown of city government a week ago. Two candidates tied in the municipal runoff on Oct. 9, and members couldn't agree on a successor.
The governor appointed two people to fill vacant council seats.
