Governor Bentley Seeks Review of Roadblock Surveys

Gov. Robert Bentley's administration is reviewing weekend roadblocks in St. Clair and Bibb counties where breath, blood and saliva samples were collected from motorists.

Bentley's press secretary, Jennifer Ardis, says the governor asked his secretary of law enforcement, Spencer Collier, to look into what happened.

Off-duty officers in the two counties were used to set up the roadblocks for the study by the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation. It is part of a national series of roadblocks to study alcohol and drug use by motorists.

Lt. Freddie Turrentine of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department said the survey was voluntary.
